- People today rely on the internet to find information quickly. When searching the web there are many different types of search engine you can choose from. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask Jeeves. But everyone chooses to us a different search engine based on preference, however they continue to develop and change over time. In order to become familiar with a search tool we should use many different ones and figure out what we like best. When we begin searching we should formulate a search query. This is a question or word that helps define information you seek. The search query should include a key word that describes the information we are trying to find. Typing keywords in search boxes identifies web pages and a search result list.

Search engines use a software called a sider bot or web crawler that searches the web automatically and find the information your looking for. These web crawlers are stored on a servers that creates an index it different web pages. The most current information or relevant results occur at the top of the page. Today most search engines base their results on indexes created by web crawlers.

When you go to google.com type in a keyword for search query. Then click the google search button. An index of related topics will show up such as news links, top relevant hits, similar pages, and older stored pages. To make searching the internet easier you can download thier toolbars which allow you to use some of the providers other tools. Search engines are out there for people to find information easily.
